A Warm and Joyful November — Community Circle Highlights
November’s Community Circle was filled with laughter, creativity, and meaningful connections. Just like every month, we gathered at 2 PM, and the room slowly transformed into a cozy, welcoming space full of activities for children ages 5 to 14 with diverse learning needs. Each corner of the room offered a different way to explore, express, and enjoy — and the kids certainly made the most of it.

A Room Full of Choices and Comfort
As families arrived, our volunteers and high-school helpers helped set up the familiar comfort stations:
- Sensory bins with colorful beads and textured tools
- Board games ranging from Battleship to Jenga
- Coloring tables with crayons and themed pages
- Open art-and-craft space for free expression
These stations give our children the freedom to choose what feels right for them, helping them regulate, warm up, and engage at their own pace.
What’s so beautiful about this routine is watching how each child naturally finds their rhythm — some head straight to the sensory tables, others prefer quiet coloring, while many gather around the board games to challenge volunteers and friends.
November Art & Craft: Handmade Greeting Cards
This month’s featured craft was making greeting cards, a simple yet heartfelt activity. Children decorated their cards using stamps, stickers, textured papers, and die-cut shapes. Some created cards for family. Others made cards “just because.” One little girl proudly used our die-cutting machine for the first time — her smile said it all.
Art activities like this give kids a gentle way to express feelings, practice fine-motor skills, and create something meaningful they can take home.
Play, Imagination, and Social Moments
The play tables were full of energy! Children teamed up to build imaginative structures, played Battleship with volunteers, and collaborated on playful creations.
These moments are more than just games — they are about turn-taking, communication, solving problems together, and learning how to share space comfortably with others. Our youth volunteers were incredibly patient and encouraging, always ready to join in or support when needed.
Circle Time — Singing, Movement, and Community
As always, we wrapped up the afternoon with Circle Time, a favorite part of the program. Children, families, and volunteers gathered together for familiar songs: our hello song, name song, a movement game, and finally the goodbye song.
Circle Time brings everyone together — it’s grounding, joyful, and helps build a sense of belonging. Some kids love being in the center showing their moves, while others prefer singing quietly from their seats. Every participation style is welcome.
A Heartfelt Thank You
Each Community Circle reminds us why these gatherings matter so much. They give children a safe space to explore and families a place to connect with others who understand their journeys. And none of this would be possible without:
- Our dedicated volunteers
- High-school helpers
- Supportive parents and caregivers
- The Fremont Main Library, our wonderful community partner
As we move into the rest of the season, we are grateful for the joy and growth we witness every month. We can’t wait to see everyone again for the next Community Circle!
